About Us

Introduction

The Dental Group is a New Zealand-owned dental partnership group built around a simple idea: great practices grow best when clinicians remain at the centre of them. We partner with dentists, specialists and practice owners to build strong, sustainable practices that deliver excellent patient care, support ambitious clinicians and create long-term ownership opportunities. Our model combines ownership, clinical independence and practical business support to help practices thrive without losing what makes them special.

Our story

The Dental Group journey began in 2021 in response to a clear gap in the market. Too often, practice owners were left with a choice between continuing to carry the full weight of ownership alone or selling into a model that risked losing the identity, autonomy and culture they had spent years building. We believed there was a better option.

Our view was, and remains, that dental practices should be able to access the benefits of scale, capital, strategic support and succession planning without giving up the clinical independence and local relationships that sit at the heart of a successful practice. That belief continues to shape everything we do.

Today, The Dental Group remains proudly New Zealand owned and focused on building a network of high-quality practices, specialists and clinicians who want to be part of something bigger while still retaining a meaningful stake in their future. We are not driven by short-term volume or standardised templates. We back practices we believe in, partner with clinicians we trust and work hard to preserve what patients and teams already value about each practice.

Our approach is long-term. We invest in people, facilities, systems and growth, but we do so in a way that respects the legacy of the practice and the professional judgement of the clinicians within it.

Our practices

The Dental Group’s network spans a growing number of practices across New Zealand, including general dental practices, specialist dental practices. Each practice has its own identity, local reputation and team culture, and we see that as a strength rather than something to be removed.

We partner with practices because we see strong fundamentals: good clinicians, loyal patients, committed teams and real long-term potential. In some cases, that means helping an established practice continue its legacy through succession. In others, it means investing in growth, supporting new services, improving facilities or helping a clinician step into ownership for the first time. What connects them all is a shared commitment to quality care and a desire to build enduring practices, not short-term outcomes.

Shared ownership, partnership and succession

Shared ownership sits at the core of The Dental Group model. We believe the best outcomes are achieved when the people delivering care also have a genuine stake in the future of the practice. That is why we focus on partnership rather than simple acquisition.

For practice owners, this can mean a succession pathway that protects the practice they have built while creating flexibility around timing, transition and future involvement. For clinicians joining TDG, it can mean a pathway toward ownership that may not otherwise have been accessible on their own. For both, it creates alignment: everyone is invested in building a strong, high-performing practice over the long term.

Just as importantly, our model is designed to protect clinical autonomy. We do not believe quality dentistry comes from a remote, one-size-fits-all operating model. Clinical decision-making stays with clinicians. We provide support around the practice – strategy, finance, growth planning, recruitment, systems and operational infrastructure – so our partners can focus on patient care and building great teams.

Succession is also a major part of what we do. We work with owners who are considering retirement, reducing days, bringing in the next generation of leadership or simply looking for a better long-term structure. Every practice is different, and we take a practical, tailored approach to building a pathway that works for the owner, the team and the future of the business.

Careers at The Dental Group

The Dental Group offers opportunities across general dentistry, specialist dentistry, hygiene and oral health, practice management and clinical assistant roles. People join TDG because they want more than just a job. They want to be part of a growing New Zealand dental group that values clinical quality, supports development and creates genuine long-term opportunity.

For clinicians, that can mean working in well-supported practices, collaborating with experienced peers and exploring a pathway toward partnership or ownership. For practice and support teams, it means being part of a business that is ambitious, practical and committed to building high-performing practices without losing the importance of people and culture.

Meet the team

The Dental Group is led by people who understand both dentistry and the realities of building and supporting practices. Our leadership team works closely with practice owners, clinicians and managers across the group to drive growth, support performance and create long-term opportunities for our people and our partner practices.
